A frustrating start to the season for the Cincinnati Bengals only got worse on Sunday after a 27-3 defeat to the Tennessee Titans that saw a severe lack of offense.
The Bengals only racked up 211 total yards, compared to Tennessee’s 400 offensive yards – which included 173 on the ground.
Bengals QB Joe Burrow – who signed the richest NFL contract in history by average annual value this season – put up a 20/30 passing line for only 165 yards and no touchdowns. He was also sacked three times for a loss of 26 yards.
The person he threw to the most was Ja’Marr Chase, who only hauled in 73 receiving yards on seven catches and nine targets.
Chase, who went to college with Burrow, expressed his frustration at the lack of consistency after the game ended.

After being asked if he feels like he has less time to get open, he replied, ‘I’m open. I’m always f***in’ open.’
In a follow-up answer, Chase said, ‘I can’t do nothing man. I can’t do nothing than what I’m already doing. If I’m open, I’m open.
‘You know, at the end of the day I can’t do nothing but… what can I do? If I’m open, I’m open, you know what I’m saying?’
Burrow has had a poor start to the season – with only 563 yards and two passing touchdowns to his name.
He’s only managed one game with over 250 passing yards and only threw passing touchdowns in the team’s Week 2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
It’s a significant setback from last season, where Burrow put up 1,099 yards and eight touchdown passes in his first four games.
After the game, Burrow reflected on the team’s 1-3 record and said that they’d work to put it behind them.
‘We’re not gonna let anything like that come between us,’ the quarterback said. ‘That’s how you end up having a bad season.’
