Eagles coach Nick Sirianni does not think the ‘Tush Push’ should be banned – and offered a passionate defense of the play after the Eagles’ win over the Dolphins on Sunday night.
The play is a version of a quarterback sneak, whereby two or three Eagles players line up behind quarterback Jalen Hurts and push him from behind in an attempt to get a first down.
As the Associated Press reported last week, the NFL will discuss the play in the offseason, though Sirianni made his thoughts on the matter clear after the Eagles’ 31-17 win over Miami, where they successfully used the play four times.
‘It’s first-and-nine every down. ‘Every first down, it’s first-and-nine,’ he said.’ Knowing that if you get to fourth-and-1, shoot, a lot of faith in that play.
‘You’ve seen it across the league that people can’t do it like we can do it. They can’t do it like we can do it.’

‘Don’t ban this play,’ he continued. ‘If everybody could do it, everybody would do it.’
Since the beginning of last season, the Eagles have had massive success with the short-yardage play.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the play has worked for the Eagles 41 out of 44 times since Week 1 of the 2022 season.
Contrarily, the Giants had two offensive linemen injured on the play when they tried it against the Seahawks earlier this month.
The play, which has been legal since 2005, was reportedly discussed by the NFL’s competition committee after last season, according to the AP.
However, it was ultimately not banned for this season, with 24 votes required to ratify a new rule (it did not come up for a vote last offseason).
That could change in the spring, but for now, the Eagles will continue running their uber-successful play.
