Antonio Pierce is reportedly on the verge of landing the full-time Las Vegas Raiders job following his successful spell as interim head coach this season.
Pierce, a former linebacker for the Washington Redskins and New York Giants, stepped up from his role as linebackers coach after the firing of Josh McDaniels at the end of October and impressed in his short stint as interim.
The Raiders went on to win five of their final nine games of the regular season, showing clear signs of improvement in that time, leading a number of players to campaign for him to be given the full-time post.
And according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Las Vegas chiefs are now finalizing a deal to make Pierce their new head coach.
The former linebacker impressed after replacing Josh McDaniels at Allegiant Stadium in October, winning five of his nine games at the helm.
